Baggy Pants and the Nitwits is a 1977 animated series, produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises and broadcast on NBC. Each half-hour episode contains two cartoon segments: Baggy Pants is an anthropomorphic cat dressed as Charlie Chaplin's "Tramp" character, right down to the mustache and cane. His misadventures are somewhat reminiscent of Chaplin's, and there is no spoken dialogue in his cartoons. The Nitwits is about an elderly superhero named Tyrone, who has come out of retirement, and his wife Gladys. These two characters are based on the ones played by Arte Johnson and Ruth Buzzi on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, and are voiced by the same actors.
